Breakfast & Awards Ceremony

Michael O’Neill started volunteering in January 2015 for a local organization, surrounded by many people that inspired him to give more of himself. At the time, Michael had no idea that sorting clothes and helping make sandwiches would change the course of his life. On a cold night in February, Michael gave his dinner to a local homeless man while his sons looked on. This act of giving sparked an inspiration that would have Michael “hooked” on giving and supporting his community.

At the end of 2015, Mr. O’Neill decided to create his own organization One Love Camden to help deliver donated furniture to local families in need. The focus expanded from helping Camden families to anyone local in the South Jersey area in need, which was when the name changed to One Love South Jersey. Collecting and delivering furniture turned into projects (stuffing socks with toiletries for Valentine’s Day, Easter baskets for local kids, Thanksgiving food drives). Assembling events (volunteer opportunities to help with projects). Activity nights (paint nights at Ronald McDonald House Camden, Northgate II in Camden with the residents, and Cardinal Village with the seniors). Provide meals on the streets of Camden, Philly, and Atlantic City or at Ronald McDonald House Camden for families. In January 2017, One Love South Jersey was 1 of 10 recipients of a Martin Luther King Jr Freedom Award given by the Camden County Freeholders.

One Love South Jersey is a non-501c3 Facebook group made of amazing people who spread love in any way they can. The organization takes pride in seeking donations of things like furniture, clothing, food, toiletries, or supplies.  One Love South Jersey also collaborates with local nonprofits, businesses, schools, and churches to bring hope to those in need.
